Notes: Crist came to Radford from one of the toughest jobs in the State at Virginia's Bristol High where his record was significantly below .500. At some point this season he will push his career record over .500. In an ironic move, Crist will take his Radford team back to Bristol to play his former team in Week 3. Radford and Glenvar appear to be the class of this league again, and then one or the other will have to figure out the Appomattox riddle in order to advance to the State Semi-finals where defending champion Graham will likely be waiting. Returners include first team all state Quarterback Landon Clark.

Floyd County is a two-time state runner-up but lately they've seen their season end in the regional playoffs. NOTES: This is the first season for the Alleghany Cougars a consolidated school with Covington. The school keeps the Alleghany name, but the primary colors are darker and the team adopts the "Cougars" name from Covington. The program took a monumental step forward with 7 wins and a playoff appearance in the Region 2C playoffs. With the addition of the Covington students, Alleghany steps up to Class 3. Fields was the coach at Alleghany last year and got the nod for the combined school head coaching job. Covington coach Chris Jones transitions to a principal position at a local elementary school. A new opponent hits the schedule in Class AAA Greenbrier East from West Virginia.
