NOTES: Akers is on a bit of redemption tour. He was the Head Coach at Gate City for 3 seasons (2016 - 2018) and went 7-24 with back-to-back 1-9 seasons in 2017 and 2018. Prior to Gate City he was 13-10 at Rural Retreat with 2 playoff appearances. Akers played for Graham in Bluefield for Hall of Fame Coach Glynn Carlock. He also spent time as an assistant at George Washington in Danville and William Fleming.

NOTES: Sturgill is a 2013 Chilhowie graduate and a second-generation head coach at the school. His father Mike was the coach from 1993 - 2000. Former coach Jeff Robinson resigned as the head coach in March but remains the school's Head Baseball Coach and Athletic Director. In 10 years, Robinson went 63-50 with 3 district championships, 2 Region 1D championships, and Class-1 runner-up finishes in 2017 and 2018. Return a bunch of experienced players with 8 returning on offense and 9 on defense and the JV team went 7-0 last year so the Warriors aren't going to stay winless for long.
