NOTES: The revolving door of coaches continues at Martinsville since Taylor Edwards retired. Fielder replaces Bobby Martin who took a job literally right across the border in Eden, North Carolina. Martin had put the Bulldogs back on the right track after the school just punted the 2020 season (spring 2021) due to Covid-19. Ten wins might just be capable again, but even in Class 2 and with the dwindling population in Southside the days of Shawn Moore and Nikki Fisher seem long gone.

NOTES: The Eagles 2022 season appeared doomed from the start as they were kicked out of their home stadium due to a track being installed and had to play their games at Averett College. Of their three wins only two were on the field as they took a forfeit from Patrick County. Lost two games in overtime, 50-43 to Bassett, and 27-26 to Magna Vista. Won back-to-back Piedmont titles in 2020 and 2021. We will find out a bunch about this team on opening night when they host defending Class-4 champion Dinwiddie.
